Planning Application for Solar Farm

The following was sent to the North Kesteven District Council Planning Department on 4 August 2014 as the official Parish Council response to the Planning Application made by Hazel Capital of 59 Gloucester Place, London.

Application Reference: 14/0937/FUL
Proposal: Development if a solar power array on land owned by Blankney Estates in Parish of Scopwick & Kirkby Green.

The Planning Application was carefully considered by the Planning Committee of Scopwick & Kirkby Green PC following a public exhibition in Scopwick Village Hall on 24 June 2014 and an Extraordinary Parish Council Meeting on 7 July 2014 in the Methodist Chapel Scopwick called specifically to discuss this issue.

The detail content of the Planning Application is the same as was discussed on 7 July and the Planning Committee conclusion is effectively the same:

1.   The Parish Council has no objection to the site layout as presented in the Planning Application.

2.   The Parish Council would recommend that the substation, to be owned and managed by Western Power, be situated as close a practical to Trundle Lane to allow screening the reduce the visual impact.
A study should be conducted to consider if it would be advantageous to locate the substation under the power line on the ground occupied by Longwood Quarry on the western side of the B1188.

3.  It will be important to write in to any Planning Approval and Lease Agreement binding conditions concerning the maintenance of hedges and approved screening between the arrays and adjacent pathways.

The basic facts are similar to those detailed in the News story published below on 25 June.
